At one point, I planned on joining the Air Force, but then I realized it was like the joke of the US military and my parents said no, so I was like, "k."

Whoa. Cool. It never crossed my mind when I was kid, maybe because I'm such a baby when I was young.

Lol, Elli... The airforce is the joke of the military. NO OFFENSE TO ANY ONE THAT MAY BE IN THE MILITARY.
I've always wanted to serve the country... I don't know. It's just always been a desire of me. Elli, if it would have been me, I would wait til I get older and do it despite what they say. If that's what you wanna do, then do it.

I know some one who is in the air force. They don't like it. I'm just going off of what she said, and that's what she said. She thought there'd be more to it. If your into more things like technology, and stuff, the air force is for you.
If you're into physical things, I'd go Army or Marines. It all depends on your personal references.

Well,, the Air Force is definitely not a joke. They are contributing to their country's security as well, aren't they?

Definitely. -nods- I'm afraid I mis-worded it. Lemme re-word it.
The Air Forces basic training is the easiest out of all the other branches. If you want something more challenging, I'd go Marines. The Marines are the only branch who require their recruits to go through the crucible just to become Marines. The Army, the only one's that go through the Crucible are the Army Rangers, and the special forces. That's merely what I was trying to say, and I'm sorry for any disrespect.

It's not that they aren't defending us or anything --because they definitely are-- my understanding was that the Air Force is mostly out of harm's way; they aren't ground troops and they don't engage in direct combat unless they happen to encounter enemy aircraft, so the other divisions of the military sort of scoff at them. The reasoning there isn't entirely sound, but I guess it makes a little sense.
To be honest, I don't even remember who told me this. I have a friend who's in some special operation of the army, but I don't think it was him. -shrug-
