Do you have a forum currency on your forum?
As you can see, IncrediBAD has a forum currency called "IncrediBucks."
What can be done with the forum currency offered on your forum?
On IncrediBAD, we have our forum shop and we're looking to get the skin market concept and the request areas going. Once all these things our flowing, the forum currency will hopefully have a bit of value.
So, what about you and your forum, or your past forum? Did you have a forum currency on your forum? What could be done with it?

I actually won't have any on mine, first time ever though. It seems so weird to me but don't really need it.

It seems in possible to prevent forum currency from becoming worthless. IncrediBucks aren't really worth anything still. It's something I need to work on.

But if you plan on having something in the future then having it now is great. Let's members build up bucks. I don't plan on having anything they can use it for so no need.

I'm gonna use a form of money on my upcoming forum but I am only gonna give it out personally. Instead of each post I'm going to give gold to each member who does something helpful for the forum or who has a good attitude all of the time or something along those lines. So far I can only think of them being able to use it for custom titles and other profile stuff.

Even when you make a shop, nobody ever cares to use it. Forum Currency just aint worth it. I don't see the point of offering Custom Titles or anything like that for money, when I can just make a post asking people what title they want, and not use the money.

They only forum I had that used currency was my promotion forum. You needed money to buy services which in that case it's almost a must have.

I think it's a great idea. Many forums try it though and never take it to the level it needs to be to make it interesting and useful. The biggest thing is to make the currency actually worth something. Most forums it's just some digits that increase when you post. I've used this on many of my forums, and I can say, my newest project that I'm helping code will really take forum currency heavily.

Currently, the Acadamy, doesn't have any kind of money hack, however the staff team is discussing it to be included or added after we gain more activity. With the User's money members will be able to buy certain rewards that they wouldn't normally be awarded through the "Awards System" I have implemented.

I had a money system on Writhed Resources v2-3, but I got rid of the money hack when I made v4. Not enough people were using it, so I just trashed it.

I used to use it, but most people don't actually use it unless it's 'currency-for-services' on promotion forums - in other words, they use it for packages or graphics, etc. Otherwise it's just a number, as Allan said.

It seems in possible to prevent forum currency from becoming worthless. IncrediBucks aren't really worth anything still. It's something I need to work on. This is why I never use it. Even when you make a shop, nobody ever cares to use it. Forum Currency just not worth it. I don't see the point of offering Custom Titles or anything like that for money, when I can just make a post asking people what title they want, and not use the money. I would have to agree with you here. I've been on the ProBoards network for at least 5 years and I've yet to seen a point system that has worked well. Custom titles and colored usernames can only appeal to a member for so long before it gets dull. Pair that along with clunky point systems (meaning code and/or how it is setup) you get meaningless number that just waste the staff's effort. Manually adding points to members as a staff is rather cumbersome. Sorry, if I sound so negative but I just don't think forum currency is as exciting as it used to be. At least to me. Obviously, I can only speak on the forums that I frequented in the past. Only decent point systems I have seen in the past 5 years was Talk Park because it had a automated shop which meant you could buy stuff instantly without having to request a staff to do it for you. Another aspect that made it great was that as you started out the easier it was to obtain points but as you obtain more points it becomes increasingly harder to earn them (if I remember correctly this is done with an algorithm done by HPmad). This made it quick at first to draw you in and interesting later on. Sorry I that sounded confusing, I am not a coder lol. Edit: Yea, reading it again I was definitely too harsh in the first paragraph.
