I've started a forum about Skyrim and I have no idea how to start this skin. I'm trying to brainstorm all of the colors and the general look but I just can't get it. I don't know if I want it to be light or dark. I have tried putting a background of the scenery but that takes too long for slower computers. Anyone got any ideas?

I'd expect a Skyrim skin to be dark. Most gaming forums seem to have dark themes. I think red and black would look really good as the main colors in your color scheme. You could then incorporate blood in the logo that matches the red in the color scheme. I think that would be cool on a gaming forum. It's hard to make a good skin without having an effect on the loading time of the skin. Wouldn't it be okay to assume that Skyrim players have a okay internet connection that can handle the background scenery, logo, icons, etc?

I'd go with dark though, and add some transparency into it. ^_^

The only problem is that it was taking like 5 seconds for me and I have pretty fast computer and internet. Most people hate waiting long for loading websites. Haha I might need help designing if anyone wants to help

I can help you, though I doubt you need my help. I have never been very good with dark skins, but I could try to help you.

Well the girl that was suppose to be helping me left for a while without getting on. Suddenly she's back on and saying she will have time to help now. I don't wanna hurt her feelings by telling her someone else is helping so I'll just see if she actually starts helping Thanks for offering and I'll tell ya if I end up needing your help!

when i first read "skyrim skin", i immediately pictured a dark skin, using gray/blue and icy blue colors.
but i also think a skin using earthy tones, different shades of browns, etc would also be nice !

Go with a dark skin if you are looking for a cave type one but go with a light skin if you are going with an outdoors or town/village sort of look to it. I would also try to add some animals that you would see near those areas to help make it look good. Also, maybe add a dragon in the background such as Alduin or something.
