How do you get your inspiration when designing something?
Me I sometimes browse forums and deviant art.

Whenever I come across a design I like, I want to try my best to make something better than it. That's what inspires me. If I see an awesome signature made in GIMP, I look into figuring out how that person made it. If I see a sleek rank, I look into making something better. Outdoing other designers isn't a very good thing to be inspired by exactly, but it can be a motivator. I'm competitive.

I look through deviantART. Ditto. Also Smashing Magazine show-cases some gorgeous designs every once in a while.

i think being part of an active design forum is a HUGE inspiration. having a place to talk about design, showoff my work, etc - this is what motivates me.

Looking at galleries of people much better than I am. It has a way of inspiring and making you feel like crap at the same time.

This might sound misconstrued, but whenever I come across a forum, that's lacking in graphic design, I get motivated... I want to create something! Some of my personal inspirations come from Reedy, Tony, Ana, etc. (popular names around pb)

Hey now! I'm RIGHT HERE! This might sound misconstrued, but whenever I come across a forum, that's lacking in graphic design, I get motivated... I want to create something! Some of my personal inspirations come from Reedy, Tony, Ana, etc. (popular names around pb) Thank you so much for that compliment. You made my day. ah, tony was one of my buddies ! haven't talked to him in ages, unfortunately... :[ What do you mean was?
My personal inspirations come from my school. I'm blessed that I get to see what other designers in higher classes get to do, and it inspires me to try to be better. Also, I browse dA like many of you guys.

The only way I'm inspired by other websites is in terms of layout. Inspiration for colors, shapes, and fonts more often than not come from everything but websites. Photography, graphic design, traditional paintings... basically every other medium. I have a board on Pinterest where I keep anything I'd like to utilize later. pinterest.com/ebbymac/design-inspiration/It's quite handy.
